Abstract: The HYFLUX project was awarded to Texas A&M University - Corpus Christi and collaborating institutions by DOE NETL on 1 October 2008. Major Project activities will commence in January 2009. The goal is to obtain accurate measurements of methane flux from the seafloor to the atmosphere with attention to potentially unstable deposits of gas hydrate. The approach is to make careful in-situ measurements at known seeps in the Gulf of Mexico. These results will be combined with remote sensing detection of oil and gas seeps to yield basin-wide estimates of combined flux. The field portion of this project will include the MC118 site as one of the study areas and will be coordinated with consortium activities. The purpose of this talk is to acquaint members with the project and discuss potential interactions.

Related NETL Project
This presentation is related to the NETL project DE-NT0005638, “Remote Sensing and Sea-Truth Measurements of Methane Flux to the Atmosphere". The goal is to obtain accurate measurements of methane flux from the seafloor to the atmosphere with attention to potentially unstable deposits of gas hydrate.
