Mercury Emissions Control Technologies
Modifications to Wet FGD to Enhance Mercury Control
Jointly funded by DOE and the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI), this project's purpose is to investigate novel approaches of capturing elemental and speciated forms of mercury at coal-fired power stations equipped with wet FGD scrubbers.
The proposed research program shall investigate at the bench- and pilot-scale, novel methods of removing hazardous air pollutants (HAPs), focusing on: a) elemental mercury directly, b) conversion of elemental mercury into soluble forms, and c) a potential improvement for removing particulate-phase HAPs across wet FGD systems.
