Mercury Emissions Control Technologies
Preliminary Field Evaluation of Mercury Control Using Combustion Modifications

General Electric – Energy and Environmental Research Corporation is developing a new technology that reduces the cost of mercury removal from flue gas by combining it with carbon reduction in a burnout system and simultaneously controlling nitrogen oxides emissions. Data on mercury removal at Western Kentucky Electric’s Green Station will be obtained and used to assess options to improve the efficiency of mercury removal.  These options will be further investigated in pilot-scale testing on a 300 kW combustor.
