New Technologies to Reduce Mercury Emissions
Developing
new technologies to reduce mercury emissions requires a collaborative effort
from private and commercial sectors and from Federal tax dollars generated
for every American. But the payoff is cleaner, more efficient power generation.
To
this effort, the Department of Energy (DOE) has promoted the Clean Coal
Technologies Program and continues to investigate new technologies to achieve a
goal of 90% mercury removal from coal-fired power plants. The DOE expands tax
dollars by cost sharing projects with industry to field test new technologies
and evaluate performance. The list below shows some of the current projects
under the program:
