Carbon Storage
United States Carbon Utilization and Storage Atlas

Please note that the first and second editions of the United States Carbon Utilization and Storage Atlas (Atlas I and Atlas II, respectively) have been removed from the NETL website. Atlas III is available for reference via the Carbon Storage Reference Shelf. Please note that the maps and information contained in Atlas III are no longer current as of December 2012, as DOE has released Atlas IV.

The 2012 United States Carbon Utilization and Storage Atlas – Fourth Edition (Atlas IV) contains updated information related to DOE's Carbon Storage Program and refined carbon dioxide (CO2) geologic storage resource estimates for oil and gas reservoirs, unmineable coal, and saline formations based upon a calculation methodology that reflects uncertainties in geologic formation properties. Atlas IV, released in December 2012, is available for download [PDF-23MB]. More information is available via NETL's National Carbon Sequestration Database and Geographic Information System (NATCARB) website.
