Larry M. Lane

Larry M. Lane is currently Visiting Professor of public administration at Virginia Tech, and Adjunct Professor of education administration at Shenandoah University.  In the Virginia Tech program, he regularly teaches the budget and personnel processes classes.

He serves as an appointed member of the Public Service Panel of the National Academy of Public Administration.  Before entering academia, he was a career federal official and charter member of the Senior Executive Service, serving as Deputy Director of Personnel for the U. S. Department of the Interior.  Following his retirement from federal service, he served for a number of years on the business administration faculty of American University, teaching human resource and strategic management courses in the MBA program.  Dr. Lane graduated from the University of California at Riverside, the University of New Mexico, and he received the Ph.D. in public administration from Virginia Tech.  He frequently contributes journal articles and book chapters on public service issues.
