2004 DOE Human Resources & EEO/Diversity Symposium - Speaker Bio

Dr. Gary W. Florkowski

Dr. Gary W. Florkowski is an Associate Professor of Business Administration at the Katz Graduate School of Business, University of Pittsburgh, where he has taught a wide variety of courses in human resource management and international business at the MBA and executive-MBA levels.  His primary teaching and research interests focus on the infusion of information technology in human resource and industrial relations processes, international HRM, and global legal systems.  He is presently conducting a long-term study of the impact that IT is having on HR departments and HR professionals in North America, Europe, Asia and Latin America.

Dr. Florkowski has authored over 20 publications in the fields of international HRM, incentive compensation, and HRM regulatory compliance.  His articles have appeared in such leading academic journals as the Academy of Management Review, British Journal of Industrial Relations, Industrial Relations, and the International Journal of Human Resource Management, as well as in several edited books on international management.  His upcoming book, Managing global legal systems:  International employment regulation and competitive advantage, will be published by Routledge in 2005.

Dr. Florkowski obtained his Ph.D. and J.D. degrees from Syracuse University after graduating from Cornell University with a B.S. degree in Industrial & Labor Relations.
