Coal and Power Systems Strategic Plan and Multi-Year Program Plan Issued
The Office of Fossil Energy Coal and Power Systems Strategic Plan and Multi-Year Program Plan [PDF-1720KB] was issued in April 1999. This plan is structured to meet short-term, mid-term, and long-term needs for low-cost, reliable electricity and transportation fuels, culminating in the creation of a new fleet of energy facilities called Vision 21.
The Fossil Energy Coal and Power Systems Program is committed to ensuring that our Nation will continue to have the cleaner, more affordable, and secure energy needed to keep our economy growing strong and to provide valuable jobs for many generations to come. To achieve this vision, Fossil Energys Coal and Power Systems program plan focuses on developing advanced fossil energy technologies aimed at improving the biosphere and continuing the economic competitiveness of our Nation.
The Coal and Power Systems Strategic Plan and Multi-Year Program Plan contains the current strategic plan and multi-year program plans for each product line, including: Technologies For Existing Plants, Near- and Mid-Term Development and Demonstration, Distributed Generation, Vision 21, Carbon Sequestration Research, Advanced Research, and International.
