Invensys Highlights AVESTAR Center and IGCC Dynamic Simulator Technologies in Operator Training Webinar Series

The AVESTAR Center and its IGCC dynamic simulator with operator training system (OTS) and 3D virtual immersive training system (ITS) were highlighted in a webinar series presentation on operator training being offered by Invensys Operations Management. The webinar discussed the benefits of dynamic simulation-based operator training for improving workforce productivity, safety, and efficiency for the energy and process industries. Based on Invensys’ SimSci-Esscor® DYNSIM® dynamic simulation software and Wonderware® InTouch® operator training interface software, the high-fidelity, real-time IGCC dynamic simulator/OTS was deployed at the AVESTAR Center in March 2011. The 3D virtual ITS was installed in July 2012 and is based on Invensys’ SimSci-Esscor® EYESIM® virtual reality software. Developed in collaboration with Invensys, the dynamic simulation-based OTS and virtual reality-based ITS are coupled in real-time to provide an integrated IGCC control room and plant environment for use in AVESTAR industry workforce training, engineering education, and R&D on plant operations and control.
