NETL Highlights the AVESTAR™ Center for Operational Excellence of Clean Energy Plants at the 2012 ARC World Industry Forum and PowerPlantSim'12 Conference
At the Sixteenth Annual ARC World Industry Forum, February 6-9, Dr. Stephen E. Zitney, Director of the AVESTARTM Center, will discuss the challenges facing operators of clean energy plants of the future and highlight how AVESTAR’s dynamic simulation-based training, education, research programs are helping to address those challenges. The theme of this year’s forum is transforming industry through new processes and technologies. The forum is attended by operations, engineering, maintenance, and automation executives of process and energy industry owner/operators with responsibilities in process control, process safety, energy management, human factors and training, and other functions linked to achieving operational excellence.
At the 2012 Power Plant Simulation Conference (PowerPlantSim’12), February 12-17, NETL’s Eric Liese will deliver a presentation on achieving operational excellence for clean energy plants, including an overview of AVESTAR’s IGCC dynamic simulator and immersive training system. The focus of the conference is nuclear and fossil power plant training simulators. Conference topics include using simulator-based training for utility work force transition and rebuilding; simulator implementation strategies and lessons learned; low cost solutions for simulator maintenance; virtual simulation technologies, re-staffing, knowledge transfer/retention of simulator personnel; simulator/plant event analysis; and recent simulator operating experience.
